Cal Bear fans,
Here's another link to the new running back that Cal just landed and a funny commentary from an Old Blue. And another funny commentary and words of wisdom from an old Blue about Jeff Tedford which can apply and be useful to all of us from time to time. Yes, each of us all have had those "Darn, I could have had a V8!" moments at some times in our lives.
Enjoy,
Ken

Funny and wise commentary from an Old Blue:
..... I'm thinking that Tedford spends just a little TOO much time in the office and on the field during the season. Something men do (and Bears, for that matter) is go off into their "cave" and think about things. I know that when I was at Cal I loved getting away for a few short hours and walking up into the hills behind the staduim and campus to take a deep breath and make sure I had my direction right. Maybe Teddy should put that into his repertoire next season--take some time away, walk and think about the state of Cal football. Instead of pouring over film and game plans and being boggled by rosters, if he would have just taken one of those walks, ran into a mule deer hopping through someone's backyard, seen a rabbit gnawing some mustard in the middle of the trail, it might have dawned on him: "Maybe Nate should rest and let's see what Kevin can do." That space, away from the hustle and bustle may do Teddy some good. If someone here has his ear, would you mention that, cuz that's what men do when they have to figure things out. .....
Another funny commentary from another Old Blue encouraging Covaughn to sign:
Well, if the guy really wants a school with a top flight business program, Cal's got to be in there.
Weather, not much of a factor most of the year, unlike some of the other places he was being recruited by.
Playing time, Cal has an established tradition of getting reps for lower classmen, who knows, maybe even more this coming year because of the loss of Forsett?
Location? It's NorCal, God's country! Go stand on top of Grizzly Peak and in one direction you see San Francisco, the south the job potential of Silicon Valley, the north the Wine country, and the east the snowy peaks of the Hetch Hetchy and Yosemite. (True, you have to look over Manteca and Los Banos in that direction, but nothing's perfect).
Facilities? Who knows, but if it DOES go through it'll be the newest in the country, and it didn't seem to stop Marshawn Lynch from getting into the NFL.
Fans? What we all know who are from the Bay Area. Fiercely loyal, high level of knowlege, funny and handsome.
Covaughn, NorCal girls are hot and smart. And nice. NFL player or Haas School of Business grad, the girls will be there, mark my words.
Offensive potential? See clips of Cal - Air Force.
True, we're losing great receivers, but the track record over the past six years is that Cal doesn't rebuild, it reloads.
Coach, Tedford, aside from his football mind, is an incredible mentor and considered one of the most ethical coaches in the NCAA.
Cal is highly competitive athletically, and absolutely second to none academically. Where else will you hear the rooting section chanting "Nobel Prize! Nobel Prize!"
Ain't going to hear that one in Tempe, Covaughn...
